HA! of course he wasn't like this "as much" when he was at UK... Every good coach is a spin doctor! Of course Pitino is going to rip his team in the media why wouldn't he they just lost pretty handily to a team that shouldn't have even sniffed their jocks! Just like VMI shouldn't have been close to UK I'm sure Billy G was spinning that loss in some fashion also...

Obviously both teams came into those games thinking they wouldn't have to do much to win and on that day the other team happened to play the games of their lives and pulled off defeats that "shouldn't" have happened, but that's why they play the game.

I'd be willing to bet just like you've seen some improvement from UK in you will see a dramatic turnaround in effort in UL's next basketball game...

Spin is something all good coaches do they don't want their team too high after a win or thinking they're better than they really are or thinking they're as good as they actually are, and lose a sense of urgency... If you think Coach Pitino is bad you should listen to a post game of Coack K from Duke or Coach Williams from UNC they are two of the best spin doctors I've ever heard talk...

I couldn't agree more. He was like this, though not as much, at Kentucky as well.

A very good friend of mine went to Knoxville with me Saturday. On the way, the conversation came around to ul b.ball. He is a friend of Pitino and is often invited to travel with the team and attend many practices. He went to practice last week and commented how good ul looked and how pleased Pitino was with the team's effort. Funny how quickly Lil' Rickie changes his story. After losing to WKU on Sunday, the first words that I heard Pitino say in an interview was that they probably had the worst week of practice since he became a coach. AMAZING!!! Kind of like a couple of years ago when ul played a very small, not very talented Air Force Academy. AFTER THE GAME, WHICH UL WON BY A NHUGE MARGIN, Lil' Rickie proclaimed "I was more concerned about this game than probably any game in my coaching career". Give us a break!!! This guy is so full of himself, along with a certain bodily excrement. He's truly a "media darling"... they can't wait to hear his self-indulgent B.S. He is a gifted motivator, but it get's a little too deep most of the time. I even hear many ul fans say that they are getting tired of his nonstop pshyco-babble. Good luck cards. GO CATS!!!

Yeah he's too busy being a drunk and getting the cops in Lexington to drive him home after he's been pulled over for a DUI he'll never be charged with while he's there...

I don't see Billy G. coming out making a public apology after a single loss. That is pretty pathetic on Ricky P's part.

You say he don't make public apologys, hum,
"They whipped us," Gillispie said of the Wildcats' 111-103 upset to Virginia Military Institute Friday night."

"Their guys were on the court just as long as we were," Gillispie said. "I don't buy into the theory of a team wearing themselves out more than the other team. We didn't pay attention to the details and missed assignments. I attribute this loss mostly to lack of leadership."

Lack of defense, not the lack of leadership, is what lost that game, plain and simple, blame it on coaching. Not being prepared. Just like UofL, to cocky.

"We're just making too many mental errors even though it's the second game of the season against a really good team," Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie said."
The game against N.C. i am not making this up, look in here:

Like James said, every coach does it, when their team wins, they all say, "we played the best game out there, i am so proud of my kids, when they lose, its the same ole song and dance.

EVERY coach does this. Althought R.P. does it well, he did do the same thing at UK. Show master, always has been all ways will be. Thats what they get paid for.

C'mon Brad It's not like you to jump on something like this and start saying "it's for real". I expect it from the hairy raisin sack that started this thread, but not from you. Calipari walks the line. There is no doubt about it. Sandy Bell does…

KSR is a blog. It wasn't even around in the 80's. Your creditability is almost as low as a Chicago politician.
