REDNBLUEFANS

Let me say this, last season uk had a much better and deeper D than they have this year. Last year at Comminmouth Stadium uk beat Middle Tennessee 20-14. uk beat Arkansas on a late RazorBack turnover 21-20. uk lost to Vandy 31-24. uk beat E. Carolina in Memphis 25-19. Now we can all agree, UL is as good or better than these above mentioned teams. uk could very easily been 2-2 against the above if Arkansas hadn't given them that game. UL is more than capable of beating uk in Comminmouth Saturday. UL has an improved offense and uk is depleted on defense, compared to last year. uk also has new offensive players that have yet to gel together as a unit.

I hope yoiur kidding UL struggled againt a div 2 school that lost to an NAIA school, you are kidding or you are insane , I truly hope you are kidding with the improved offense comment ROFLMMFAO
Paul, Disagree on the comment that UL was as good or better than any of the teams you listed. I'll give you Middle Tennessee, but Arkansas, while not a bowl team, would have beaten UL. Petrino over Kragthorpe. Any debate on that one? Vanderbilt played in a bowl game and beat Boston College, runner-up in the ACC. East Carolina won Conference-USA.
Have not seen UL play this year but did go to the Miami/ Ohio game. I saw UK players who looked bigger and faster than before. Will that translate to a win over UL? I've already stated twice on this site that it will be a close game.
You can not judge UL on game one, just like you can't judge uk on thier game last year vs. Middle Tennessee State. uL was bringing in a new QB who had a slow 1st quarter and also there were several key defensive players did not play and also RB Ashley did not play, he is compared to Anderson. Did Kragthorpe play a vanilla game intentinally so not to show uk anything? We shall see. Maybe Krag could have brought the whole playbook and scored 50 points. No matter how many points you score it is still just 'one win'. You know Kragthorpe and the UL players will lay it all on the field Saturday. They have heard it for 2 years just like Lumpkin said uk heard it for 4 years when uk lost to UL 4 straight. RemeMber also, the uk win 2 years ago was on that last minute long TD, otherwise it would have been 5 straight for the CARDs.
I stand by my assessment that UL was as good as the fore mentioned teams. Arkansas was not Petrino ready last year, they lost not only to uk but to Bama by 35, Fla. by 31, Texas by 42 and S. Carolina by 13. Arkansas also only beat Lousiana Monroe by 3....Vandy lost to Wake by 13, Tenn. by 10 Florida by 28 and DUKE? by 3. Nobody loses to Duke in football. E. Carolina lost to uk by 6, S. Miss by18, Virginia by15, Houston by17 and NC State by 6. UL was as good as those 4 teams if not better. They were all in position to beat uk in Lexington, except of course E. Carolina was in Memphis.
Arkansas is a much better team this year and I read that Petrino has his recruiting machine in gear now. Look for them to rise to the top in the SEC, if Petrino stays there.

Defense can win games... up to a certain point. If you don't have an offense that can stay on the field long enough to let the defense rest, even the best unit will succumb to fatigue. This doesn't mean that you have to score a bunch of points. What's required, though, is a series of possessions that result in ten yard gains, preferably on the ground.

Take the Bears and Colts in the 07' Super Bowl. If Grossman is just a few notches more efficient, with a two TD lead, the Bears win by a landslide. Instead, he rushes plays, doesn't get yards, throws a pick, thus causing a once impassable defense to slowly deteriorate physically.

Kentucky isn't sensational on either offense or defense. But, they're GOOD on both. That consistency and balance, I think, will translate into a solid performance.
Paul, I guess it depends which UL team you are looking at. First half of the season, I'm more likely to agree. 2nd half of the season I can't.
You're probably right about Petrino. It's only a matter of time before the Hogs are in the hunt again.

Skandl, I agree with what you're saying. I think that scenario happened to UK last year several times.
Paul, I want whatever you're smoking. It must be some good shit. Saying that UofL is as good as Arkansas, Vandy, or East Carolina is one of the biggest red kool-aid drinking comments that I've heard in some time. Syracuse has 10 wins in the last 5 years. 20% of those are against UofL. UofL was embarrassed on their homefield last year by an amazing defense, and a first year quarterback. They have NO chance of beating Kentucky. And what the hell is "commonmouth"? I've seen it jokingly referred to as "cumminmouth", but this is the first commonmouth reference that I've ever seen. Try putting a post together that makes ANY kind of sense.
Go to the mirror, open your mouth, it is what you will see!!!
