A player of the year does make the rest of the team better; however, he hasn't done that. Outside of Meeks and Patterson, who has done anything? Gillespie even said that they need more from the rest of the team. He's not getting that if those two are 75% of the offense. That's not really making the rest of the team better. They are riding off those two. If he got 54 and Patterson got 11, that leaves 35 points from everybody else. Look at the stats of all the games -- team production hasn't been good enough to say that he makes others better. He is a phenomenal player but he's doing all the work. He needs help. Playing that hard, night after night, could lead to an injury, too. That's what I'm afraid of. They need to help him more.
