I Hope Meeks Does'nt Get Caught Up
I want to say first of all I don't want to take anything away from Meeks he is a beast and I do feel he should be a canidate for P.O.Y..Here is why, to me the player of the year is a player who makes his team better all around and he does that for UK.Not to take anything away from Paterson but Meeks does'nt need anyone to "set" him up, mybe a screen or just catching his man slipping and there is a three in you ass.My point is if UK gets hot and makes a run in the tourny he should get a look at POY, because If UK is to make noise it will be partually because of his play.My other point is I hate ESPN,they change like the weather before it was all Hansboro this and that now that UNC has lost some games they are looking for some one else's coat tails to ride until someone new comes along.Before it was the SEC is weak blah blah now it is Meeks,Meeks,Meeks.They are not even talking about UK as a whole they are just focusing on one thing Meeks not the fact that UK is starting to play good basketball.Also as far as Curry and the other kid from OK go I watched him monday both of their teams will be in trouble when other teams figure out how to shut them down in the tourny.Go Cards and see you in march UK.

I thank Meeks will be OK because the family has good values.
I remember when Tubby was recruiting him. Tubby called him a stand up type of player that could lead a team. Thanks Coach Smith for such a GREAT PLAYER. I can give you 54 reason why every UK fan should be doing the same.

A player of the year does make the rest of the team better; however, he hasn't done that. Outside of Meeks and Patterson, who has done anything? Gillespie even said that they need more from the rest of the team. He's not getting that if those two are 75% of the offense. That's not really making the rest of the team better. They are riding off those two. If he got 54 and Patterson got 11, that leaves 35 points from everybody else. Look at the stats of all the games -- team production hasn't been good enough to say that he makes others better. He is a phenomenal player but he's doing all the work. He needs help. Playing that hard, night after night, could lead to an injury, too. That's what I'm afraid of. They need to help him more.

Pardon me. They gave player of the year to Tyler crybaby last year. He wasn't the best player in College Basketball. Far from it. As with the Heisman it has little relation to actual talent or ability at the next level.

Jodie Meeks hasn't made the rest of the team better????????????? Without Meeks, this team would probably have a losing record. With Meeks they are headed for the top 25. I guess with your logic Lisa, Michael Jordan should have never won any NBA mvp's. He and Scottie Pippen totally carried the rest of the Bulls on their backs, just as Meeks and Patterson are doing for their team. You shouldn't try to read any further into what the player of the year means. It is what it is; THE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. It pretty much defines itself. No matter how much you hate UK, you can't leave Jodie Meeks out of the discussion for player of the year at this point of the season.
