REDNBLUEFANS

U of L coach Steve Kragthorpe has shot up to #3 at Coacheshotseat.com behind Notre Dame's Charlie Weis and Auburn's Tommy Tuberville. The list includes other notables such as Texas A & M's Mike Sherman and old friend Hal Mumme now at New Mexico State.

But what makes me question the validity of those who assembled this list is that it also includes Michigan's Rich Rodriguez. Does anyone really think Rich is gone after a single season where he essentially tried to run his spread offense with a bunch of hippos and elephants?

As for Kragthorpe...I still don't see him leaving after this season. It takes more than two years to turn around a program and we know now that Bobby P. left it in a mess.

Good one 4.5 titles you thought long and hard about that post didn't you? Hey, by the way how was that loss to NC State this past weekend for the "u"?

Unfortunately I'm not surprised to see this... I think its ridiculous! I would also question the validity of this poll also...

I also agree its obvious Petrino left a mess for Kragthorpe or any coach who does his job with any set of good morals... Yes Petrino won and won a lot while he was here but clearly he was doing it with a big rug and a big broom continually sweeping issues under the rug.

Funny how his "system" with more talented players in the pro's didn't work or maybe he wasn't able to "control" everyone like he did while at UL... With in players in Atlanta like DeAngelo Hall not allowing him to sweep issues under the rug and speaking out against him it was never going to work. I guess that's what happens when the players you're coaching make more money than you do...

Great first season for him at Arkansas too huh? WOW a losing record and being beaten by the guy who previously held his job Houston Nutt...

If UK isn't careful they could be facing the same problem with Billy G... Take the Liggins issue for example the day after he "refused" to enter the K-State game he was playing against WVU as if nothing happened... Why? In my opinion b/c Liggins is more than likely a better athlete or more talented than any backup they've got at that position and Billy G can't afford to lose again anytime soon...

That to me is kind of sad, with an attitude of win at any cost... Look at where it got UL football. UL Football was riding high with an Orange Bowl win and 2 seasons in a row of being in the discussion for a slim but potential shot at a National Championship... Next thing you know that coach leaves and we bring in a man who does things the right way and the mess he's having to clean up may be too big for any one man...

Wildcat why do you call Kragthorpe names? you're not even a Louisville fan... If anything I'd think you'd like what has happened with him as coach...

I guess I'm confused why you'd call him "Kragglywhore" ? It really makes no sense...

I mean you can do what you want to do I'm just saying for someone like yourself based on how things have gone since he got here I'd think you would be one of his biggest fans...

To me it doesn't make a lot of sense for you to make fun of him... But hey do your thing, what ever floats your boat...

ul has Randy and Chrissy with their constant "corn liquor" and "racist" stupid comments. Now we have to endure HINK with his constant "ul sucks" stupid comment. To ALL of you... please deal with some FACTS, NOT opinions. Opinions are FINE IF they deal with at least some facts. Stupid statements without ANY facts get old in a hurry. Good luck cards. (Does that make me a "racist", Chrissy??? After all, ul has mostly black basketball players, so the lack of white players could mean I'm a racist.) GO CATS!!! (Does that make me a "corn liquor" drunk, Randy? After all, ul fans don't drink anything but beer, do they?) May GOD bless us all. OOOPS!!! That makes me a right-wing religious zealot!!! See ya!!!

Clearly Weis and Tuberville are on their way to the exit. You can't have the kind of recruiting classes that Weis has put together the last 3 years without having some progress. Clearly there hasn't been any at ND. The problem there is that he is going to go and no one is going to want to take the job again. Tuberville seemingly can screw up even the best talent. You've got Campbell, Williams and Brown in your backfield and you can't win anything? Come on.

Agreed on Rodriguez. He is trying to instill a completely different system. Its going to take him at least 3 years to find the speed he is looking for. The Zooker is trying to do the same thing in Illinois and is having limited success.

Blaming our troubles on Bobby P. is shortsighted. He didn't leave any more of a mess than any other coach has. His style was very different from Kraghthorpe. Enough said. Krags had more than enough to go with last year to do well. His main problem now is squandering that momentum that came out of the Orange Bowl. He has to find a way to generate some excitement again. Right or wrong we got used to seeing a lot of 40 and 50 point scores on the board the last 10 years.......He needs to step it up.

James, not pointing fingers at the content. But I'd like to hear what others have to say about the coach topic and this type of banter can distract from that.

I can't agree with you about Kragthorpe... I do think you can place "some" of the blame on him simply b/c he's the head coach but again as I've state numerous times when you lose 30+ players after your first season due to injury, graduation, suspension/being kicked off the team and leaving early for the NFL draft you cannot expect much more than what he has been able to do and now losing another 20 seniors after year two is also very difficult.

I do agree we got used to seeing the scoreboard light up but I would also lay some of that blame on Petrino b/c he was obviously using a "win at all cost" mentality. Most if not all of the players Kragthorpe had to dismiss or suspend were key players who contributed in BIG ways. And then you lose players like Okoye to graduation who was identified as a team leader by the time he was a senior you're undoubtedly going to have problems.

I do agree with your assessment of Weiss and Tuberville, but in my opinion the situation Kragthorpe took on was a very unique one. We simply do not have the depth right now. Scott Long is the best example of this... HUGE impact when he was healthy then pretty much nothing before or after... Yes Beaumont is a good player and Chichester has potential but both essentially rookies with no experience.
