You may be right, but the bottom line is this... you have to have the horses to compete, and ul simply does NOT have the horses. Before the season started, I questioned the talent on the o-line, d-line, and linebackers. Throw in the lack of depth at most positions and you have exactly what I thought ul may have... not enough talent to win. Complain all you want about the coaches. There certainly is some blame to go around. But it is very difficult to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Good luck cards. GO CATS!!!

What everyone has to realize is that Cardinal football will always be around 6-6. Every once in a while they will have a great record (because of the Big East) and may go to a BCS bowl. But for the most part UL is a 2nd or 3rd tiered program. UL (and UK) is a basketball school. Any success in football should be considered cake. The 1-10 Ron Cooper years are very far removed. Be happy with the Liberty Bowl every 3 years and deal with it.

I am a cats fan but I do not agree with the previous post. UofL should finish above .500 on a frequent basis simply because of the conference that they are in. No conference is a complete push over (except C-USA haha) but I think most will agree that the Big East should not be powerful enough to have UL keep loosing records. UK will always have trouble because of the high talent level of many of the teams in the SEC but they are on the path to be a consistent 6-8 win team with a occasional run at a BCS game (if they can stay out of trouble).

Now to the post I agree that Brohm's play calling is for the most part terrible. At the beginning of the season he wasn't even up in the box which screams out to me that he doesn't really no what he is doing in this role just yet. He may improve with time but I don't know how much of that he has. I don't understand Louisville's obsession with the Brohm family, If Hunter Cantwell had Harry Douglas to throw to all the time he would be doing just fine like he did in his fill-in duty. Brain Brohm hung that poor guy out to dry more times than I can count. Without Douglas there would have been no Brohm b/c he has poor decision making when he is pressured and cannot move outside that pocket. That is why he keeps moving down that ladder instead of up at Green Bay. Jeff Brohm play calling is hurt some because of the lack of playmakers but Kragthorpe has shown little ability or effort to attract any such players. The last I checked UL had only 4 commits for next season and had quite a few JUCO players that they were looking at bringing on board. JUCO players are for plugging holes not making an entire team. You have to get players who are going to have 3 and 4 years college careers and who are good enough to play at the college level right out of high school. I love nothing more than to beat UofL every year in Football but beating a below .500 team does no good for anybody. In my opinion the players are part of the problem but the the problems source is Steve Kragthorpe and Jeff Brohm. English is a good coach but I look for him to take a head coaching job soon because of that. Also the big stink about the lack of Black coach's will make alot more people in need give him the first glance. good luck trying to fix the mess...

You bring up alot of good points, the reason ul got all of those good players to come here was because the offense was so exposive.We would score 35 pionts every game easy but now we are lucky to score before halftime.My biggest knock is if you know your offense is going to stuggle how do you not have a guy who can kick fields?They had all of last season especially without going to a bowl to get ready and this is what they put on the field.this is ul not willaim of saint mary all of those guys could'nt have been that bad for kragthorp to have kicked all those players out of the program.All I am saying is mario should have had his own set of plays just like chichester the guys is 6'6 and hunter never got him the ball.

Bottom line to this post is Kragthorpe is the head coach and he must agree with Jeff's play calling or he would over ride the calls. Speaking of players Chichester and other receivers have alot of dropped passes that could have been caught. Cantwell's decision making this year has been sub par. Just look at his interceptions thrown. As a good quaterback when you put the ball in the air you must throw where either your receiver can get or no one. There are some passes that he could have just thrown it away but instead he throws into double coverage and gets picked. I would rather lose a down then lose a posession. As far as the kicking game how do you get your kicker experience if you dont let him kick. Yeah he might not make it but it beats going for it on 4th and long. Sometimes we got lucky and made the conversion but still didn't win and next year the kicking game will remain sub-par because of that. Louisville just doesn't have the complete package (coaches and players). With the players coming in and the players leaving I dont see Louisville getting back next year. In my opinion I think Kragthorpe should be in the hot seat next year but as much as Jurich likes him even with a losing record next year he will remain coach the following season as well. To me the players that were kicked off the team they gave up on two quickly if they were that bad why not ty to get them back on the right track like Pitino did with caracter (even though he failed he still tried). It was like them players wasn't doing what Kragthorpe wanted so the answer was to put them off the team. I thought part of coaching was to develop players and turn them into men/women. This is just my opinion of the whole picture.

I agree with a previous post that it does not benefit the UK/UL rivalry if one or both of the teams has a losing season. I don't follow Card football close enough to know what the issues are this season. As I've said before, it all boils down to athletes. On the backside there's a saying: "Good horses overcome bad trainers". My guess is that the UL talent pool is not what it was in the last few years. I'm also hoping the UK talent level is steadily improving. This year was a rebuilding year and there were the injuries.
