What we CARDS fans should do about football.

I've said before on this blog that I don't keep close tabs on the problems at UL the way a Cardinal fan would, but I wanted Rich Brooks head on a platter three years ago. UK fans suffered through three years of futility, even though the team was on probation. Sure glad people wiser and more patient than me kept him around.

I have said since day one that I would give him three years to be successful, and I am sticking behind that. No, he has not proven anything to me, not one thing, but I'm still behind this team.

well you can always return to the C-USA and those glorified high schools that you've had a steady diet of chomping on over the last ten years in order to feel like you're special again. because as long as you play in the majors (albeit the weakest one) hit and miss will be par for course for you.
next years 3-9 team ought to drive home that reality.

I agree with Bluerock (omg! I can't believe I agree with a KY fan lol) but had Ky got rid of Brooks when the fans wanted to, they would not be going for their 3rd consecutive bowl. I did'nt like Kraigthorp either, and I can't really say I like him now, but I am tryin to be a patient Cardinal Fan and give him time, I will be a die hard Card fan no matter who is in the coaching position, and Cardinal Fans you need to get behind ur team and show ur support, most of all.....Have patience, in order to win, you gotta lose sometime. But we WILL prevail and win again!

I agree with you sam, but here is my take on the situation. It is true that we need to stay supportive through this "transition period" But here is what worries me: we are relying heavily on Tom Jurich's insight and word. If we have another sub .500 season (which next year isn't looking much better) we are in danger of losing the expansion all together. I for one will not fork out the 300$ + to watch my team lose to the likes of Syracuse and Uconn at home. If we can't fill up 40 g's, how can we match 60? What happens if we have a losing record next year? Will Jurich stand by and watch his ship sink? Or will he do what he should have done three weeks ago and fire his boy and bring in someone with name AND JOB RECOGNITION to create a buzz around the program. We have been sent packing back to the 70's when UL football was in danger of becoming extinct. UL football is now equivalent to women's crew here at UL.

You are a complete Dbag! Look at who Kantucky beat this year- WKU (fist year FBS team) Norfolk State, UL, one point wins against fellow bottom feeders Arkansas and Mississipi St., another almost miracle loss against MTSU. Your two bowl victories were against mediocre ACC comp (not to mention Fla St. having third of their starters suspended for bowl game). UK finishing last (or tied for last) in the SEC is as inevitable as the sunrise. Lean on your crutch of "we beat LSU last year". Even a blind squirrell gets a nut. Bottom line is, while UL is struggling to win games, what has UK done that puts them arm and leg above UL? Finish last in the SEC? You're going to 3 strait bowls simply because you aren't on probation any more. You are allowed too. So enjoy 6-6 every year, and relish in that fact that UL blows right now and eat it up while you can. Dbag........

i do find it cute that the average louisville fan seem to have some warped sense of entitlement when it comes to winning football games as though after beating up on those glorified high schools of the C-USA and being the winner of a single orange bowl has actually established them as an elite or powerhouse program. !NEWS FLASH!...TEAMS WHO DWARF YOUR MEAGER ACCOMPLISHMENTS (and are actual establish powerhouse programs) HAVE HAD DOWN YEARS AND HAVE EARNED THE RIGHT TO BE UPSET WITH MEDIOCRITY UNTIL THEY RETURN TO THEIR REAL STATUS. LOUISVILLE IS ACTUALLY ONLY SETTLING INTO WHO THEY'LL BE IN A D1 MAJOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL CONFERENCE, AS OPPOSE TO THAT (glorified high school) MID MAJOR THEY'VE AMASSED A FEW DECENT SEASONS BEING A PART OF...MEDIOCRE!

and here's another dose of reality for you: teams with far greater advantages than louisville has struggled to regain their prominence against their common opponents, and louisville who is no football juggernaut or recruiting magnet is attempting to establish the success it had over those glorified HS's of the mid major conference that has made them think they were special against a higher level of competition. even though the big least is nothing more than an exceptional mid major, but still greater competition than what UL is accustomed to...PERIOD!!!

We should go back to Conference USA, man UK should go to a conference that it can place better than last place in.High school teams, well let's see what happens when one of those "high" school teams plays you in the Liberty bowl.The mere fact that a "basketball" school could even win a Fiesta bowl, a Liberty bowl, and an Orange bowl are amazing.So I think we deserve to be a little "cocky" sometimes and get a little angry when we see all that we have worked for start to slip away.On the flip side even when UK had one of their best years in history did they win their conference?Yeah they beat LSU but who cared, the pollsters think so low of UK that lost did'nt hurt them enough to keep them out of the championship game.What bowl has UK won, what conference championship have they won, a champion is a champion all the same no matter if it is little league, high school, div 1,2, or 3.UK's excuse every years is we can't win because we are in the SEC, why keep beating a dead horse leave go some where you can compete.No body blames memphis for staying in CUSA, they stayed cause they wanted to win their conference every year.Ol Mitch says he wants to win conference championships and national championships then move your team and give them a chance.I have news for you UK will never out recruit the Florids,Alabamas, or the LSUs so they will never win the SEC.

"Down years" we wouldn't be talking the U now are we 5 titties? LOL..........Lucky if you draw 10,000 fans per game next year. Don't worry about us..we will be fine. It is the U i'd worry about.
