UK commitments update

Here's an update from last weekend on the performances from the 19 verbal commitments the University of Kentucky has already on board for the Class of 2009.

It was a huge week for both Carmel quarterback Morgan Newton and Ryan Mossakowski, the highly-regarded quarterback from Texas.

Late-night nuggets

Here are a few nuggets to chew on - both football and basketball.

* Maryland junior guard Josh Selby told Insidetheville.com after a visit to Louisville over the weekend that "Louisville's got a shot." The top 10 player in the Class of 2010 is also looking at Tennessee, Florida, Texas, Marquette and Xavier.

Nations top RB gives U of L mixed reviews

The highest-ranked football recruit that was on a visit to the University of Louisville this weekend - David Oku - returned home to Oklahoma with mixed reviews.

The 5-foot-10, 186-pound Oku - considered the No. 1 all-purpose back in the country by Rivals.com - said he didn't feel a lot of excitement in the atmosphere but did see a program where his skills could be a help right away.

"The trip was good, I liked it all," Oku said. "But I'm not going to lie to you, the only thing that I was a lit… Continue

Central LB commits to UK

Central High School linebacker Ridge Wilson went to the Louisville vs. Kentucky football game as a guest of the Cardinals, wearing a red-out t-shirt.

He left as a Kentucky commitment.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Wilson hasn't returned a call to The Courier-Journal but he told The Cats Pause that he made a commitment after the 27-2 win by Kentucky over the Cardinals.

He's the 19th commitment for the Wildcats in the Class of 2009 and picked UK over Louisville, Indiana and Arkansas. Tennessee and se… Continue

One of the nation's top sophomore basketball players - Marquis Teague - will be in town on Saturday with his father for an unofficial visit.

Teague, a 6-foot-1 guard from Indianapolis Pike, will travel to Louisville and spend Saturday on campus with the coaches. He'll be joined by his father, Shawn.
