Here are a few nuggets to chew on - both football and basketball.
* Maryland junior guard Josh Selby told Insidetheville.com after a visit to Louisville over the weekend that "Louisville's got a shot." The top 10 player in the Class of 2010 is also looking at Tennessee, Florida, Texas, Marquette and Xavier.
* South Laurel quarterback Ricky Bowling had a big night last weekend. He threw for over 300 yards and five touchdowns in a win over Covington Holy Cross. He now has over 8,300 yards and 92 touchdowns for his career.
* Another record-setting quarterback, Clay County's Zach Lewis (photo), also had a big night. Lewis completed 28 of 40 passes for 297 yards and two TDs in a win over Knox Central. He has 10,881 career yards, moving him into second all-time in state history behind only former Leslie County quarterback Tim Couch. He passed former Elizabethtown signal caller Chris Todd with last week's effort.
* Franklin, Tenn., center Drew Kelly, the grandson of former Kentucky assistant and longtime coach in the area Lake Kelly, has committed to play at Miami of Ohio. He is also a standout tight end and had a football scholarship offer from a number of schools.
* Add North Carolina to the growing list of schools going after Seattle junior post player Josh Smith, according to Scout.com analyst Evan Daniels. Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana are all recruiting the big man.
* California junior guard Tyler Lamb, who had a little interest from Indiana and Louisville a while ago, committed to UCLA.
* Lexington Christian's Anna Martin has committed to play basketball at DePaul.
