UK commitments update

Here's an update from last weekend on the performances from the 19 verbal commitments the University of Kentucky has already on board for the Class of 2009.

It was a huge week for both Carmel quarterback Morgan Newton and Ryan Mossakowski, the highly-regarded quarterback from Texas.

Here's a look at each player (if not listed, the season has not started):

* Brian Adams, athlete, Cumming (Ga.) South Forsyth: No stats for Adams, whose team dropped a 24-14 loss to Alpharetta.
* Jordan Aumiller, athlete, Boyle County: Aumiller ran one time for 13 yards, caught four passes for 50 yards and had an interception in a 49-13 win over Warren Central.
* Justin Bean, WR, Tupelo (Miss.): There were no statistics reported but Tupelo decked Covington (Tenn.) 42-0.
* Mister Cobble, DL, Central: Cobble did play (he had a knee injury during the preseason) in a 34-28 loss to Manual.
* Qua Huzzie, LB, LaGrange (Ga.): Huzzie led the team with 10 tackles and two assists in a 31-10 loss to Newnan.
* Tristian Johnson, DE, LaGrange (Ga.): Johnson had five tackles, two assists and one sack in a 31-10 loss to Newnan.
* Justin Jones, tight end, Conyers (Ga.) Heritage: Jones was a star on a defensive line that allowed only 39 yards rushing in a 21-7 win over Salem.
* LaRod King, WR, North Hardin: He's playing quarterback in high school and passed for 222 yards and two TDs and ran for 54 yards in a 33-30 win over Shelby County.
* Kevin Mitchell, OL, Douglasville (Ga.) Alexander: He was part of an offensive line that didn't allow a sack in a 41-31 loss to Breman.
* Ryan Mossakowski, QB, Frisco (Tx.) Centennial: Mossakowski completed 24 of 33 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns in a 71-20 win over Denton.
* Morgan Newton, QB, Carmel (Ind.): Newton had his second huge game of the season, completing 8 of 15 passes for 94 yards and one TD and rushing nine times for 152 yards and three scores. He scored on runs of 18, 31 and 70 yards.
* Ridge Wilson, LB, Central: The newest of the commitments, Wilson did play but there were no statistics in a 34-28 loss to Manual.
* Larry Warford, OL-DL, Madison Central: The big 300-pound Warford recovered a fumble in a 25-0 win over Mercer County.

I actual live in Frisco and saw Ryan Mossakowski play Thursday night. Frisco Centennial ended up lossing to McKinney Boyd 35-28. I don't remember his exact stats. I think he threw for around 300 yards. Frisco was actually down 28-13 at halftime. They were tied with 2 minutes to go in the game. When they tied the game he showed a lot of emotion. His passes were acurate when he was scrambling. That was real good to see. He has a good arm and throw the fade pass to the cornor well. He did fumble on the 1 yard line early in the first half. I won't be able to go the the next week will be in Kentucky but we are going to try to make the rest of the games and see his progress.
