UK fans should be excited, but be realistic!

The hiring of Coach Cal has brought excitement back to the Big Blue Nation, with the great recruiting
that has happenend over the past month and a half and the return of Patrick Patterson for his junior
season, the potential return of Jodie Meeks, and the great possibility that #1 recruit John Wall will
be coming to Lexington. Kentucky has gone from a NIT appearence this past seaon to a potential title contender for the 2009-2010 season. The Cats should be a preseason top 5 team, but the thing is with all the new pieces and the potential that two or three freshmen will be starters, fans might want to calm down with the talk that we should dominate right from the first tip-off. It's going to take awhile for the new Cats to gel with the returning ones, and the fact that they will be running a new offensive system with a new coach. Some early growing pains should be expected for
this young team. But by the time the conference season begins this team should be very dominate in a vastly improved SEC. But thinking that they will go undefeated is an absolute joke, as a cats fan posted not to long ago. I agree that when March madness rolls around next year this team will be
a top seed and should be a serious contender for the title ,but don't expect it right from the start.

haha UK fan and realistic those words should never be used in the same sentence. But yes Andy scott, Favorite of the SEC, I'd even say around a top 10 team, and a sweet 16/elite 8 is a good possibility. But to hear these jerk offs say they're favorite to win the title next season is ridiculous. If all goes well and they all gell, then a final 4 run could be very possible but that's alot of egos and IF's.

I agree with almost everything stated but I don't think that the SEC will be greatly improved Tenn will be a little better, UF is in freefall, MSU has to get some players eligable, LSU I don't know what they're going to be like but they will not sneek up on anyone again. So I don't see a Great Improvement except at UK. expectations are good but can turn to disappointment fast. UK should be the fav in SEC, top 25, and NCAA bound again. Beyond that I don't have grand expectations.

Agreed Chris. Nice post. I hope you continue to post on this site. We could use another intelligent UK fan to face all the ignorant trash that is spewed by a great deal of the cardinal fanbase.
